The adult team at C+K work across a number of contracts supporting young people and adults.

Works Better 15-25

The Employment Hub 2  programme will receive up to £1,067,581 of funding from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority. The funding was secured by the Leaders of West Yorkshire Councils and the Combined Authority through the West Yorkshire Devolution Deal. West Yorkshire Combined Authority lead on the programme working in partnership with Leeds City Region Partnership.

Works Better 15-25 is part funded through the European Social Fund and Gainshare, it is delivered in partnership with C+K across the Kirklees district.

It pulls together three projects aimed at supporting young people, these are the Leeds City Region Gainshare, managed by West Yorkshire Combined Authority, the Youth Engagement and Progression Programme 2, managed by Leeds City Council, and the Positive Minds Programme, managed by Kirklees Council.

Positive Minds

The Positive Minds strand of the programme incorporates additional specialist mental wellbeing support services from Northorpe Hall and S2R, to help young people overcome additional barriers to work such as anxiety, low confidence, and low mood. Works Better 15 – 25 Positive Minds, is part funded through the European Social Fund, managed by Kirklees Council and delivered in partnership with C & K Careers, Northorpe Hall and Support to Recovery.

The Positive Minds programme is receiving up to £937,185 of funding from the European Social Fund as part of the 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme in England.

The Department for Work and Pensions is the Managing Authority for the England European Social Fund programme. Established by the European Union, the European Social Fund helps local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support skills development, employment and job creation, social inclusion and local community regenerations.

Better Work 15-25

Delivering across Kirklees, Better Work 15-25 supports young people already in employment to improve their labour market status and to reskill/upskill whilst in work to better their future prospects.

The Better Work programme includes a range of support that can be tailored to suit you, we can:

  • Identify required training to achieve your goals
  • Assist with job search and applications
  • Support with reskilling/upskilling opportunities with connections to Adult and Community Learning and Skills Connect
  • Provide career advice, whether you’re looking for a change in career, development in your current role or an apprenticeship
  • And we will continue to support you once you have achieved your goals!

Current participants have been helped to change careers, apply for promotions/ higher wage opportunities, increase their hours, move into permanent positions, and access training opportunities.

Youth Hub

The Youth Hub is a DWP funded programme to support Calderdale and Kirklees young people aged 16-25 who are claiming benefits, move closer to the labour market, undertake training, or find work.

Participants receive 1:1 mentoring support to identify barriers, set realistic goals and improve their confidence. Practical help with CV’s, application forms and interview prep are provided. Referrals to other support services are made as required.

National Careers Service

Operating as a subcontractor for the Education Development Trust, C+K offer the National Careers Service to all adult customers. We provide expert career advice and guidance to more than 1,000 Kirklees and Calderdale residents annually via telephone or face to face appointments.

We help individuals recognise their potential and empower them to utilise their skills and strengths, improving their employability and potential career opportunities.

Our person centred approach encourages individuals to achieve positive work and learning outcomes by working with their adviser to achieve comprehensive career management goals.

Adult Community Learning

C+K provide Matrix accredited Careers Information, Advice and Guidance to those enrolled on Kirklees Adult Learning courses, in community venues across the region. Supporting those reaching the end of their courses to make decisions about their future career progression. Following group delivery, individuals are offered the opportunity for a 1:1 appointment to discuss their specific needs. For more information speak to your course tutor.

In Calderdale C+K deliver the short courses, ‘Make the Most of You’ and ‘Fresh Start’. The workshops include:

  • Identifying your skills and personal strengths
  • Exploring options for the future
  • Discovering your path to progress
  • Planning your next steps
