Celebrating success; the Nexus In-School programme continues to transform the lives of young people
C+K Careers recently welcomed students, families, employers, schools and partners to its annual Nexus In-School Celebration Evenings, recognising the remarkable achievements of young people who have taken part in the programme over the past academic year.
The event celebrated students from the 2025/26 Nexus In-School cohort and highlighted the positive impact the programme continues to have on young people across West Yorkshire.
Nexus In-School provides tailored work placements for Year 10 and 11 students who may be at risk of disengaging from education. Through meaningful experiences in the workplace, young people develop confidence, strengthen key employability skills and gain a clearer sense of direction for their future.
The Celebration Evenings offered an opportunity to recognise not only the achievements of the students, but also the outstanding support provided by employers, schools and families. For many of the young people attending, it was the first time they had received a formal award, making the occasion particularly memorable and inspiring.
Feedback from schools, employers, parents and students continues to reinforce the vital role Nexus In-School plays in supporting young people to re-engage with learning and achieve their potential - increasing confidence, improving attendance, enhancing motivation and leading to a more positive outlook on their future.

“Our Nexus In-School programme continues to deliver outstanding results for young people across West Yorkshire. The combination of studying a reduced, core curriculum alongside practical, vocational work experience is proving to be a key tool in improving attendance, behaviour, attainment and positive Post 16 progression.
We are also seeing excellent collaboration with employers and opportunities for paid, part-time work and apprenticeship recruitment. 32% of our current cohort of Year 11 students have been offered an apprenticeship and we are very proud of all they have achieved”.
As the programme continues to expand, C+K Careers is encouraging schools, employers and partners to get involved and help create even more opportunities for young people. With referrals for the 2026/27 academic year now open, support from organisations remains essential in enabling students to gain valuable workplace experience and build brighter futures.
