Celebrating life-changing achievements at the Nexus In-School celebration evening
C+K Careers recently hosted it’s annual Nexus celebration evening, recognising the incredible achievements of students on the Nexus In-School programme, as well as the invaluable support of participating employers and schools across West Yorkshire.
The Nexus In-School programme provides tailored work placements for students in Year 10 and 11 (age 14-16) who are at risk of disengaging from education. By offering hands-on, meaningful experiences in the world of work, Nexus In-School helps students build confidence, gain practical skills, and develop a renewed sense of purpose.
This year’s celebration evening brought together students, school staff, board members, employers and family, to mark the impact and success of the 2024/25 cohort. For many students, this was their first time receiving a formal award, an experience that left a lasting impression on all those in attendance.
There has been overwhelmingly positive feedback for the Nexus In-School programme from schools, employers, parents and the young people themselves, highlighting the importance and effectiveness of Nexus in transforming lives and supporting young people and their families.
Martin Green, Chief Executive of C+K Careers, shared his thoughts on the programme’s growing influence:
“Our Nexus In-School programme continues to grow, and its impact is being recognised across West Yorkshire, with considerable expansion in Leeds. The outcomes from Nexus are proving to be a key tool in reducing exclusions and helping schools to be as inclusive as possible. We are also seeing excellent collaboration with employers. Our ability to support them with school engagement, social responsibility goals and apprenticeship recruitment is a major strength and one we’re proud to continue developing”.
With referrals for the 2025/26 academic year now open, C+K is calling on partners, schools and employers to continue supporting the Nexus programme. Whether that is by referring young people who could benefit or helping to source new placement opportunities, every contribution plays a part in changing lives for the better.
