Working safely and dealing with the impact of Covid-19
C+K has been expanding its offer to encompass a digital service for pupils, staff, and school/colleges. Starting this process before the advent of the pandemic enabled us to negate the impact of Covid-19 and work safely throughout.
A digitally inclusive service
During the spring of 2020 we launched our online Chat service that enables young people to communicate with qualified careers advisers either by Facebook messenger, phone or email. This digitally-inclusive service has been tremendously successful and has seen a number of unexpected benefits as some ‘hard-to-engage’ young people have opened up using these channels – more so than if they were being interviewed face-to-face.
Many young people contacted the service worried about exams and future options. By having qualified advisers with vast experience of the issues facing young people – they were able to deal with a diverse range of topics and provide a functional careers support service despite the challenging conditions.
Flexible and agile delivery
It is this flexibility and agility that separates C+K from many other providers. With the immediate future relatively unknown, C+K is equipped with a blended careers service that can alternative between face-to-face and digital contact depending on the latest guidelines and the individual needs of young people.
The coming years will be a challenge for everyone, but C+K is determined that no young person will be left behind in respect to their careers journey. With increased opportunities for access to a qualified, professional careers advisers, coupled with an expanded range of services, we hope the issues caused by Covid-19 will lead to a more digitally prepared cohort of young people who will possess the skills needed to maximise their careers journey.
