Kirklees Council is urging firms to take on a higher level apprentice through its new grant scheme. The Council is raising awareness among businesses to increase the number of companies offering higher level apprenticeships, which are equivalent to studying for a certificate, diploma or a foundation degree in higher education .
By taking on a higher level apprentice, businesses can build a 'knowledgeable workforce' using its existing well motivated employees or recruiting other well motivated young people who have decided against the traditional higher education route.
Here at C&K careers, where we provide careers information, advice and guidance for young people and adults in Kirklees, we have appointed 20-year-old Asif Zamir, of Dewsbury, as a higher level apprentice.
Asif has spent two years successfully completing his advanced, level three apprenticeship with C&K Careers and is being supported further as he moves on to level four; building on his experience within the company and enabling him to still learn while working.
