The Kirklees Apprenticeship Hub Awards took place on Tuesday 14 July 2015 at Huddersfield Leisure Centre.
The awards showcased the achievements of apprentices in Kirklees. The apprentices receiving the awards were nominated by their employer or learning provider because of their commitment, hard work and achievements during their apprenticeships.
"It is only right that our apprentices are recognised for the contribution they make not only to their employers business but to the whole Kirklees economy... The achievement of these young people also show that apprenticeships are a valuable alternative to other career pathways". Cllr Peter McBride, Kirklees Council.
Councillor Peter McBride, Portfolio Holder for Transportation, Skills, Jobs and Regional Affairs, Kirklees Council, opened the event, which it is hoped will raise the profile of apprenticeships and the benefits to local employers, as well as learners, their parents and carers. Kirklees needs many more employers to get involved in the training of local people, in particular young people.
The success rate for young people aged 16 to 24 on intermediate and advanced level apprenticeships are above regional and national averages. C&K Careers and Kirklees Apprenticeship Hub staff work together to support young people into good quality apprenticeships and training. The Awards were designed to promote the achievements of everyone involved and in particular, to give special recognition to Kirklees apprentices and employers.
A range of awards were presented to individual apprentices and their employers. Their acievements include promoting apprenticeships to other young people, working hard to achieve the skills their companies need, helping their employers grow the business and offering great service to their customers. Local employers were also recognised for the quality of their training and support of their apprentices.
